Triumphant Steps to a Successful Marriage: Insights from A/P (Mrs.) Veronica Oge

In an illuminating speech, the Wife of the Assistant Pastor in charge of Province FCT 7 (Administration), A/P (Mrs.) Veronica Oge, shared profound wisdom on the principles of a triumphant and successful marriage. Her address, rooted in biblical teachings, provided a roadmap for couples seeking to build enduring and joyful unions.

“Marriage has been variously defined by people, situations, practices, races, and cultures,” Mrs. Oge began. “But God’s purpose, plans, and definitions for marriage stand sure and override all other definitions.” Citing Matthew 19:4-5, she emphasized that marriage is the union of one man and one woman for life, a holy covenant ordained by God to fulfill His divine purpose on earth.

She gave this hint in her seminar topic:” Triumphant Steps to A Successful Marriage” at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) FCT Province 7 Sister’s Convention converned by the wife of the pastor in charge of the Province, Pastor Mrs Moyomola Okemuyiwa on Saturday in Abuja.

A successful marriage, Mrs. Oge explained, begins with a genuine desire to commit to the lifelong journey of matrimony. “Wedding ceremonies are events, but marriage is a lifelong journey,” she noted. Understanding the purpose of marriage is crucial, as it involves companionship, procreation, and redemption (Genesis 2:18, 1 Peter 3:1). She urged individuals to seek God’s guidance and stand on His word concerning marital settlement (Psalm 37:4).

Mrs. Oge highlighted the importance of aligning with God’s will in choosing a life partner. “The perfect will of God is that you marry the person He has ordained for you,” she stated, referencing Proverbs 19:14. She also underscored the significance of courtship, a period where mutual agreement and selflessness lay the foundation for a lasting relationship (Amos 3:3).

Drawing from biblical scriptures, Mrs. Oge outlined several key principles for a successful marriage: The Word of God: “This is the compass for the journey of life,” she said, stressing its importance as a guideline for marital success (2 Timothy 3:16, Psalm 119:11).

Prayer as the key that unlocks and activates destinies, Mrs. Oge emphasized the necessity of constant communication with God to understand His will for one’s marital life (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

Love A deep affection expressed through actions, she highlighted love as the cornerstone of any successful marriage (1 Corinthians 13).

Sacrifice “Your level of sacrifice to your partner is a reflection of your love,” Mrs. Oge explained, encouraging couples to serve each other selflessly (Philippians 2:3).

Forgiveness Essential for enduring love, she advised couples to always create space for forgiveness, recognizing that no one is perfect (Matthew 18:21-35).

Politeness and Apologies “Be ready to say sorry whether in the right or wrong,” she urged, highlighting the importance of humility and ego management (Jeremiah 9:23-24).

Trust built over time through transparency and faithfulness, trust is a vital component of a strong marriage (Psalm 13:5).

Planning, Mrs. Oge emphasized the need for couples to plan together for their future, as success in marriage is measured by its later days (Proverbs 16:9).

“God is the author of success in marriage,” Mrs. Oge concluded. She urged couples to establish their union on a foundation rooted in God, maintaining a relationship with Him and allowing Him to be the central part of their marriage journey (John 15:1-7).

A/P (Mrs.) Veronica Oge’s address serves as a powerful reminder that a successful marriage is not a matter of chance but a deliberate, faith-driven endeavor grounded in biblical principles and divine guidance.
