Triumphant Women at Just the Right Time: “I Heard You

In a stirring and impactful address, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Aladegbami Gontor, wife of the pastor in charge of Peace Pavilion Area, delivered a powerful message at the annual Women’s Conference, drawing from the scriptures and the lives of notable women in the Bible.

She made this known at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) FCT Province 7 Sister’s Convention convened by the wife of the pastor in charge of the Province, Pastor Mrs Moyomola Okemuyiwa on Saturday in Abuja.

With her theme, “Triumphant Women on the Right Hand at Just the Right Time, I Heard You,” she encouraged women to embrace their God-given purpose and to rise above challenges with faith and determination.

Beginning with a poignant passage from 2 Corinthians 6:2-4, Mrs. Gontor emphasized the importance of recognizing God’s timing and faithfulness: “For God says, ‘At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.’ Indeed, the right time is now. Today is the day of salvation. We live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us, and no one will find fault with our ministry. In everything we do, we show that we are the ministers of God. We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind.”

This passage, she noted, reflects the reality of many women’s lives, where they face trials and tribulations but are assured of God’s ever-present help and guidance.

Mrs. Gontor reminded the audience of Ecclesiastes 3:1, which tells us there is a season and a time for everything, and Psalm 102:13-14, which speaks of God’s favor. She assured the women that they are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:13-14) and that God, who never slumbers nor sleeps, watches over them (Psalm 121:4).

Mrs. Gontor then highlighted the stories of several women from the Bible who triumphed over their circumstances through faith and determination.

She began with Miriam, who, though never mentioned as married, played a crucial role as a prophetess and leader who guided the Israelites into a new life (Exodus 15:19-21; Micah 6:4).

Next, she spoke of the daughters of Zelophehad (Numbers 26:33; 27:1-11; 36:1-11), who boldly claimed their inheritance and were granted it through divine intervention.

Focusing on Ruth, Mrs. Gontor detailed her journey from widowhood to becoming the great-grandmother of King David through her unwavering loyalty to her mother-in-law, Naomi, and her faithfulness to God. Ruth’s story, she said, exemplifies finding favor with God and man (Ruth 2:10-13).

Other examples included Jehoshabeath (2 Chronicles 2:11-12), Abigail (1 Samuel 25:3), and Esther (Esther 2:15-17), each of whom made significant impacts through their courage and faith.

Mrs. Gontor concluded by urging women to embrace their roles as virtuous women, quoting Proverbs 12:4. She encouraged them to stand firm in faith, partner with others for mutual upliftment, live holy lives filled with humility and service, and constantly seek God’s guidance.

Be a child of God by surrendering your all to Him (John 3:16; Proverbs 16:8). Partner with others to lift them up, recognizing the importance of mutual support (Genesis 2:18; 1 Corinthians 11:7b). Live a holy life with humility, service, and forgiveness (1 Peter 5:5-6). Resist the devil and live in the fullness of life God offers (John 10:10). Remember it is never too late to repent and seek God (John 15:7, 10). Always seek God first in every matter (Psalm 27:4; Proverbs 4:7; Proverbs 14:26-27). Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

In her heartfelt prayer, she expressed hope that Almighty God would keep everyone standing firm in Him, emphasizing that God’s timing is perfect and that He always hears His children’s cries.
