FG Inaugurates 110MVA Transformer at Isolo, Boosting Energy Infrastructure

The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, officially inaugurated a 110MVA transformer at the Isolo Transmission Substation in Lagos on January 16, 2025, marking a significant step towards enhancing Nigeria’s electricity infrastructure.

Adelabu emphasized the critical role the project plays in boosting power supply, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and industries, ultimately supporting the nation’s economic growth.

The Minister expressed gratitude to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for its financial support and acknowledged the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for their dedication in bringing the project to fruition.

He pointed out the broader economic impact of the project, including improved electricity delivery that would reduce operational challenges, foster local and regional development, and create job opportunities, particularly in Lagos, a key economic hub.

Adelabu also highlighted the challenges facing the sector, including vandalism and aging infrastructure, and assured that the Federal Government, in collaboration with TCN, was committed to improving energy security and sustainability.

He called for collective efforts from all stakeholders to ensure the successful utilization of the new infrastructure.

The Minister reiterated the government’s dedication to strengthening Nigeria’s power sector through strategic investments, partnerships, and the expansion of infrastructure.

He outlined short-term measures, such as improved maintenance and security protocols, and long-term strategies aimed at enhancing grid resilience and ensuring reliable power delivery.

Adelabu concluded by commending the efforts of CBN, TCN, and all stakeholders involved, emphasizing that the Federal Ministry of Power would remain committed to improving energy access, reliability, and affordability for Nigerians.
