The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have reinforced their collaboration to combat crime in Delta and Edo states through improved intelligence sharing and joint operations.
This development followed a strategic visit by the Customs Area Controller, Edo/Delta Command, Comptroller Judith Kanu, to the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, at the Police Command Headquarters in Asaba.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in Delta State, Bright Edafe, the meeting was aimed at strengthening existing synergy between both agencies in tackling criminal activities and enhancing law enforcement effectiveness.

Speaking during the visit, Comptroller Kanu emphasised the importance of inter-agency cooperation, noting that collaboration among security agencies boosts operational efficiency and sends a strong signal to criminal elements.
“When security agencies align their efforts, they become more effective in discharging their constitutional responsibilities,” she said, adding that such unity demonstrates resolve in combating crime.
In his response, CP Oyeniyi commended the Customs Area Controller for the visit and reaffirmed the Police Command’s commitment to sustaining a strong working relationship with the NCS.
He described the collaboration between both agencies as critical to ensuring public safety and national security, stressing that their roles are complementary in addressing security challenges.
The engagement also underscored the shared commitment of both institutions to deepen institutional partnerships, promote proactive policing, and enhance coordinated security operations across the region.
Security analysts say sustained collaboration between agencies remains key to tackling evolving threats and maintaining law and order.
