The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, has charged eight newly confirmed commissioner nominees to be prudent, accountable and above board in the discharge of their official responsibilities.
Jatau gave the charge on Wednesday during the screening and confirmation of the nominees submitted by Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Assembly complex in Lafia, the state capital.
The Speaker urged the nominees to uphold integrity and exercise prudence in office as they take on responsibilities in the state government.
The eight nominees confirmed by the House are Muhammad Habeeb Nagogo from Wamba Local Government Area; Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed from Lafia; and Mohammed Baba Shehu from Keffi.
Others are Mohammed Iyimoga Oyigye from Obi; Adamu Rabecca Kpadji from Wamba; Nawani Aboki from Doma; Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim, FCNA, from Nasarawa; and Ashefo Daniel Paul, PhD, from Lafia Local Government Area.
Following the screening, the House unanimously confirmed all eight nominees after lawmakers representing their respective local government areas spoke in support of their candidacies.
Jatau subsequently directed the Clerk of the House, Mr Ibraheem Abdulaziz Musa, to communicate the resolution of the Assembly to Governor Sule for further necessary action.
The confirmation followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara, and seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba.
The lawmakers subsequently approved the nominees after considering their qualifications and hearing representations from members of their respective constituencies.
The development follows Governor Sule’s submission of the eight commissioner nominees to the Assembly for confirmation.
The Speaker had on August 5, 2026, unveiled the list of the eight nominees submitted by the governor for screening and confirmation.
The confirmation clears the way for the nominees to proceed with the next stage of their appointment process, subject to the governor’s further action.
