2027: Oyo APC Aspirants Sheath Swords, Unite for Poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has brokered peace among aspirants who contested its recent House of Assembly primary, with the party urging them to bury their differences and unite ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The reconciliation was announced on Sunday at a stakeholders’ and press conference in Ibadan, where the Oyo APC House of Assembly Reconciliation Committee presented its report on engagements with the aspirants and other party stakeholders.

The committee said it had made significant progress in resolving grievances arising from the primary after meeting with aspirants who purchased nomination forms, other interested members and stakeholders across the state.

Reading the committee’s communiqué, its Co-Chairman, Aare Bisoye Fagade, said most of the aspirants had demonstrated maturity and sportsmanship by agreeing to work together for the party’s progress.

He said the reconciled aspirants had also pledged to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, as well as APC candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and Oyo State House of Assembly in 2027.

“The majority of the aspirants who participated in the primary election, including those who purchased nomination forms and those who did not, have demonstrated commendable sportsmanship, maturity and commitment to the unity of the party.

“They have expressed their readiness to work harmoniously with one another and with the leadership of the party towards securing electoral victory for the APC in Oyo State in the 2027 general elections,” the committee said.

The reconciliation committee, chaired by Alhaji Mufutau Adisa, commended the aspirants for putting the collective interest of the party above their personal ambitions.

It urged APC leaders, members and supporters across Oyo to reject divisive tendencies and work together to strengthen the party’s structures before the 2027 polls.

Speaking on behalf of the reconciled aspirants, AbdulRamon Olaiya said the aspirants were ready to set aside their individual interests and work for the success of the APC.

Olaiya said the reconciliation process had given the aspirants an opportunity to settle their differences and refocus on the broader goal of building a stronger party ahead of 2027.

He assured the leadership that the aspirants would support APC candidates and work collectively to secure victory across the state.

Also speaking, the APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Sharafadeen Alli, assured the aspirants that their contributions to the party would be recognised.

Alli promised to run an inclusive administration if elected, assuring party members that they would be carried along in government.

“You are all going to be carried along in our activities. Let’s work in unity and ensure that we get to power in the 2027 election,” he said.

The Co-Chairman of the Oyo APC Gubernatorial Reconciliation Committee, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, also stressed the importance of unity, urging members to put their differences behind them and concentrate on building a formidable party.

His co-chairman, Prof Taoreed Adedoja, similarly called on party members to prioritise the collective interest of the APC.

The House of Assembly Reconciliation Committee said its peace-building efforts covered aspirants across the 32 State House of Assembly constituencies in Oyo State.

The committee expressed confidence that the renewed cooperation among the aspirants would strengthen the APC’s chances of securing electoral victory in the 2027 general elections.
