A three-storey commercial building has collapsed in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, throwing emergency responders into a search and rescue operation.
The FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD) said it received a distress call about the incident at about 7:20pm on Monday, September 7, 2026.
Following the alert, emergency responders mobilised to the scene to commence rescue and assessment operations.
According to eyewitness accounts, no casualty had been reported as of the time of the statement.
However, responders continued with search and rescue operations while awaiting the arrival of an excavator to enhance efforts to search through the debris.
FEMD said details concerning the number of persons who may have been affected and the possible cause of the collapse were still emerging.
The agency urged members of the public to remain calm and stay away from the affected area to allow emergency responders and security personnel unrestricted access to carry out rescue and response operations.
FEMD said further details would be released as more information becomes available.
