Four Staff Of FCTA Bags FG Award Of Excellence

Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Federation’s Civil Service, has granted an award of distinction to four Federal Capital Territory Administrations (FCTA) for their vital contributions to Nigeria’s public service.

Esan also intimated that the existing Public Service Rules are no longer relevant, and that a new set will be released by the end of July, 2021.

The outstanding staff include : Acting Secretary, FCTA Health and Human Services Secretariat, Dr. Mohammed Kawu; Director, FCTA Human Resource Management, Malam Mohammed Bashir; Acting Director, FCTA Reform Coordination and Service Improvement, Dr. Jumai Ahmadu; and Deputy Director, Manpower Development, Mr. Rotimi Ajayi .

The award came on the heels of Abuja’s observance of 2021 Civil Service Week yesterday.

Esan stated that her office has put in place an endeavor to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Civil Servants under her supervision.

Esan stressed the importance of Civil Service Week, saying that it provides an opportunity to debate current challenges affecting the Nigerian civil service.

While urging civil servants to continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s policies and programs.

On his part, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Malam Muhammad Musa Bello described the theme of the event titled: “Building the Africa We Want Through Embracing Ethical Culture that Underpins Purpose Driven Leadership in Context of Crisis,” as quite appropriate, especially as the world grapples with a number of crises relating to health, security and the environment.

The Minister who was represented by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola, FCT Administration will continue to prioritize the needs of its personnel, while striving to ensure the country gets the best from her Civil Servants, especially with the deployment of performance enhancement technology.

Bello who used the opportunity to commend the resilience and dedication of FCTA Civil Servants, particularly, the health personnel who worked tirelessly to contain the spread of COVID 19 pandemic, congratulated the awardees for their invaluable contributions, while charging the awardees to see the award as a call to redouble their service to humanity.

Also, on her part, the guest speaker of the event, Mrs Ifueko Okauru who canvassed for continuity in the policies and programmes being initiated by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, stressed the need for innovation for effective and efficient Civil Service.
