Bichi: North Owes Tinubu, Pledges One Million Votes for 2027

KANO — The member representing Bichi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, has declared that President Bola Tinubu played a decisive role in the emergence of late President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, insisting that Northern political leaders should reciprocate the support by backing Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The lawmaker said political stakeholders in Kano North Senatorial District had resolved to mobilise at least one million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Abubakar, who spoke at his country home on Tuesday, argued that Tinubu’s political support and strategic intervention were instrumental to Buhari’s eventual victory after several unsuccessful attempts to become president.

“Tinubu made the late President Muhammadu Buhari after several unsuccessful attempts to become President. It is now time for us to compensate Tinubu for what he did for the North,” he said.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain also said the North owed Tinubu a debt of gratitude for approving major road construction and other development projects across the region, particularly in Kano State.

He dismissed claims that Tinubu was pursuing policies deliberately targeted at Northern Nigeria, describing such allegations as insincere and politically motivated.

According to him, the Federal Government’s approval of critical infrastructure projects in Kano demonstrated the President’s commitment to the development of the state and the wider region.

“Those saying President Tinubu does not like the North are not sincere. We have decided to vote massively for the President because of his developmental support for Kano,” Abubakar said.

The lawmaker maintained that several development projects being executed in Kano would not have been possible without the President’s support and federal government interventions.

He said the approvals had contributed to infrastructure development in the state, adding that the projects reflected the importance of cooperation between the federal and state governments.

“President Tinubu’s approvals have brought several developmental projects to Kano. There is no way I would have delivered all these projects without his support,” he stated.

Abubakar said the proposed support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition was not merely a political obligation but also an expression of gratitude for the President’s role in Buhari’s emergence and his administration’s development interventions in Kano.

He called on Northern political stakeholders to mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election, saying the region should acknowledge the President’s contributions through the ballot.
