FCT Minister Issues Warning to Kidnappers , Informants , Announces Arrests

Barrister Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has delivered a strong warning to kidnappers and their informants during a town hall meeting in Gwagwalada, FCT. Wike declared that their time is up and revealed the arrest of some individuals working as informants for kidnappers involved in recent attacks across the territory.

Wike emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, conveying a message from the President reassuring residents that security remains a top priority. The minister announced a decisive crackdown on kidnappers and their collaborators.

Informing the public about the arrests made, Wike pledged to pursue criminals involved in kidnapping. He urged residents to provide information to aid law enforcement and cautioned against crowdfunding for ransom, as it serves to encourage criminal activities. The minister outlined plans to bolster security by providing additional vehicles and modern communication gadgets to FCT police stations.

In response to requests for increased police presence in Gwagwalada, Wike directed the Commissioner of Police to expedite the establishment of two more police divisions. Stressing the urgency of addressing security matters, he called for swift action without bureaucratic delays.

Wike granted provisional approval for the demolition of uncompleted structures used as hideouts by criminals. He urged the council chairman to submit a letter for official approval, with the demolition scheduled to commence by Monday.

Local leaders and the council chairman also sought the completion of the General Hospital in Gwagwalada and the dualization of a major road leading to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital. Wike assured them of the necessary actions to enhance security and infrastructure in the area.
