As the festive season approaches, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, Akinwale Abass Disu, has unveiled plans for a coordinated security operation involving the police, military, and other agencies to ensure a secure and peaceful celebration in Abuja.
Speaking on Friday after a security meeting with FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike, Disu disclosed that clearance operations would target identified high-risk areas across the capital. He urged residents to remain calm and not be alarmed by increased troop movements during the exercise.
“This is part of our commitment to ensuring Abuja residents enjoy a wonderful New Year celebration,” the Commissioner said. “We are embarking on joint patrols and deploying personnel to areas that previously lacked adequate security presence.”
Disu expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and intelligence contributions, which he described as invaluable to the safety of the territory.
“We deeply appreciate the public for providing us with useful information, and we encourage continued vigilance,” he stated. “Our emergency contact numbers remain available for reporting any suspicious activities.”
The Commissioner called for sustained collaboration between the public and security agencies, emphasizing that the clearance operations are precautionary measures to maintain law and order.
With the FCT police and other operatives stepping up efforts, residents can look forward to a safer and more secure festive period.
