Former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Shikfu Parradang, was tragically killed by gunmen in Abuja on Tuesday.
Reports indicate that he was abducted in the Area 1 district after being trailed from a bank where he had withdrawn money.
The assailants reportedly seized the cash before fatally shooting him.
Parradang had a distinguished career spanning over three decades with the NIS, serving in various capacities across Nigeria, including Kano, Lagos, Kwara, Enugu, and the Federal Capital Territory.
His untimely death has raised renewed concerns about the security situation in Abuja, particularly regarding the rising incidents of kidnappings and targeted attacks.
In a related development, an aide to a senator was reportedly kidnapped in the Asokoro area of Abuja on Tuesday night. The aide was taken through a bush path on foot for several hours before being released on Thursday night.
These incidents underscore the escalating insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory, prompting calls for enhanced measures to protect residents and address the growing threat of violent crimes.
