The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Solid Minerals, is waiting for the outcome of the forensic investigation ordered to ascertain the actual cause of the tragic explosion that occurred in Ibadan. President Bola Tinubu had commiserated with Governor Seyi Makinde and deployed Mine Inspectorate officers to investigate the incident.
The Ministry, led by Dr. Dele Alake, has been working to address insecurity around natural resources, forming an inter-ministerial committee to develop a blueprint for enhancing the security of solid minerals, forests, and the marine economy.
While awaiting the forensic investigation’s outcome, the Ministry emphasizes the importance of allowing security agencies to conduct their job, ensuring that the information gathered is accurate, and culprits are brought to book to prevent a recurrence. The inter-ministerial committee is actively working on strategies to achieve the presidential mandate for enhanced resource security.
