Nigeria is seeking to deepen investment and business partnerships with Spain in the blue economy as Ambassador Okezie Victor Ikpeazu participated in the opening ceremony of CONXEMAR 2026 in Vigo, Galicia, Spain.
Ikpeazu attended the opening of the 27th International Frozen Seafood Exhibition at the IFEVI Exhibition Centre on Tuesday, October 6, alongside senior Spanish government officials, the President of the Xunta de Galicia, the President of CONXEMAR, the Mayor of Vigo, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders and stakeholders in fisheries and aquaculture.
CONXEMAR is one of the world’s major trade fairs dedicated to the frozen seafood sector, bringing together companies and stakeholders across the fisheries, aquaculture, marine and related industries.
On the sidelines of the event, Ikpeazu held engagements with CONXEMAR officials and representatives of several companies, including firms operating in packaging, marine and fisheries-related industries.
The interactions are part of the Nigerian Embassy’s efforts to promote the country’s blue economy and create opportunities for Spanish investment in Nigeria.
Nigeria has increasingly positioned its blue economy as an area for economic diversification, with opportunities spanning fisheries, aquaculture, marine transport, processing, packaging and other ocean-related industries.
The Embassy’s engagement at CONXEMAR 2026 provides an opportunity to connect Nigerian economic interests with Spanish companies and industry stakeholders operating within the global seafood value chain.
The event also offered a platform for Nigeria to strengthen economic diplomacy with Spain by presenting opportunities for investment and commercial partnerships in sectors linked to the country’s marine resources.
