Dr. Dele Lake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, expressed profound sorrow over the brutal killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State – the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola. The tragic incident occurred during their return from a security meeting, shedding light on the persistent challenges of insecurity in the country.
In a personally signed statement released in Abuja, Dr. Lake conveyed heartfelt condolences to Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, the government, and people of Ekiti State, as well as the families and subjects of the departed kings. He emphasized the need for urgent attention to the broader issue of insecurity in the nation, asserting the commitment of the President Tinubu-led administration to overcome these challenges.
Dr. Lake strongly condemned the act of violence and urged security agencies to promptly apprehend the assailants, ensuring they face the full consequences of the law. He emphasized the importance of justice being served for this heinous crime. Additionally, he called on the Police high command and the Department of State Security to take immediate action to rescue the kidnapped primary school pupils from Emure-Ekiti.
