Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, is the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor of Lagos State.
He has urged the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Agege/Orile chapter, to work with him to save Lagos State in the event that he wins the general election in 2023.
Jandor met with the group on Saturday at First Baptist Church, Agege as part of his ongoing tour of the Agege Local Government Area.
He explained to the CAN members that he had not come to campaign but rather to learn how they were faring in their surroundings and to ask them to work with him to save the state. He also asked them to pray for him.
The governorship candidate said, ” I haven’t come to campaign, I have come to request your partnership so that we can rescue Lagos State I know that the body of Chrust is not political but I know that the poverty ravaging everywhere has not spared the body of Christ. Has the level of unemployment in Lagos State spared your members? Then if it has not spared you, it is high time all of us joined hands to bring a fresh of breath air to Lagos State.
“For 24 years we have a government in power and we are still speaking about these issues. I am here to seek your partnership and I know that your desire is for your church members to prosper.
Myself and my running mate, Funke Akindele have not been elected into political office before neither have we held political appointments before, which is why we see our candidacy as a radical departure from what you used to have.
“We also seek your assistance to lift us in prayer. This is all we want. If we had wanted to campaign, we would have gone to the stadium and do it the way others have been doing it but we have decided to visit you, know where you live, know your needs and when we have establish this, we will then know what to do to deliver the dividend of democracy to you,” Jandor said.
He said that he did not come because he wants them to convince their large congregation to vote for him rather he would like them to intercede for him and his running mate, and he believe that if they pray, God would answer.
The CAN executives who represented various units expressed appreciation with Jandor, stressing that they were happy he said he didn’t come to campaign but for them to partner with him and lift him up in prayers.
They took turn to pray for him and assured him that God would grant his heart desire.
Speaking, Ven. Teddy Afeni, chairman of CAN, Agege chapter and Rev. Daniel Afolaranmi, Assistant Coordinator, CAN, Orile chapter commended Jandor’s initiative, assuring him that they would support him with prayers.
The governorship candidate has earlier visited Imams in Orile Agege where they were warmly received by the group led by Alh. Hamzat Oyinwola, the grand chief Imam of Agege.
Jandor, not leaving any stone unturned also visited the Igala community in Agege, where he assured them that they were very important to him because he wouldn’t want to be Governor that would govern his people through proxy.
