Makinde Goes Digital! Oyo Launches Online Land Registry to End Survey Fraud

The Oyo State Government has launched a Digital Land Survey Plan Registry (DLSPR) to boost transparency, speed up land transactions and eliminate fraud in land administration across the state.

The digital platform, unveiled at the Office of the Surveyor-General, Secretariat, Ibadan, is expected to modernise the registration, management, verification and analysis of survey plans.

Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Akin-Funmilayo Williams, who spoke through the Surveyor-General of Oyo State, Sur. Adesoji Adeoye, described the initiative as a major milestone in the state’s drive towards digital governance and efficient land administration.

He said the new platform would provide faster, safer and more reliable services for licensed surveyors, land professionals, investors, government agencies and members of the public.

According to him, the digital registry will strengthen the integrity of land records, reduce processing time, improve service delivery and restore public confidence in the state’s land administration system.

“The Digital Land Survey Plan Registry represents a major milestone in strengthening the integrity of land records, improving service delivery, reducing processing times and enhancing public confidence in Oyo State’s land administration system,” he said.

Williams commended Governor Seyi Makinde for supporting the digital transformation of public services, describing the governor’s commitment to technology-driven governance as key to the successful implementation of the project.

As part of the rollout, the government has commenced the training of 40 personnel to manage and operate the new digital platform.

He urged the trainees to remain committed and professional, noting that they would play a critical role in ensuring the success and sustainability of the initiative.

The commissioner disclosed that the project and training programme are being funded through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the Oyo State Government and Private Networks Nigeria Limited.

He added that successful trainees would be offered temporary employment to support the deployment and operation of the digital registry.

Williams also praised the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo, for providing technical support that contributed to the successful implementation of the initiative.

He said the partnership would further strengthen local capacity and advance modern land administration practices in Oyo State.
