New Era for Tax Administration as Nigeria Revenue Service Unveils Logo, Replaces FIRS

Nigeria’s revenue administration entered a new phase on Wednesday as the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) officially unveiled its institutional brand identity, formalising the transition from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

The unveiling ceremony, held in Abuja, marked the public debut of the agency’s new logo and branding elements, following the signing of the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Act 2025 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in June.

Speaking at the event, NRS Executive Chairman, Mr. Zacch Adedeji, described the new identity as a symbol of renewed commitment to a more unified, efficient and service-driven revenue system aligned with Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda and global best practices.

“The unveiling of the NRS identity reflects a renewed commitment to a more unified, efficient and service-oriented revenue system,” Adedeji said in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Dare Adekanmbi.

He noted that the rebranding signifies continuity of purpose, strengthened institutional capacity and a proactive approach to supporting taxpayers and national development.

“The Nigeria Revenue Service remains committed to transparency, partnership and service excellence,” he added. “This unveiling represents not an end, but the beginning of a strengthened relationship between the revenue authority and the Nigerian public—built on trust, clarity and shared prosperity.”

The NRS formally commenced operations after the enactment of the new law, which replaced FIRS and restructured Nigeria’s revenue administration framework.

The rebranding comes amid ongoing reforms aimed at streamlining tax administration and improving revenue mobilisation, considered crucial for funding infrastructure development and supporting economic reforms, particularly in key sectors such as energy and petroleum.
