Sallah Relief: FG Slashes NRC Train Fares By 50% Nationwide

The Federal Government has approved a 50 per cent reduction in fares on all train services operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation as part of efforts to ease transportation costs for Nigerians during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The discount, approved through the Federal Ministry of Transportation, will take effect from May 26 and run until June 1, 2026.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the ministry’s Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Osima Gift Seddon.

According to the statement, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr. Funsho Adebiyi, said all passenger train fares across NRC routes nationwide would be reduced by half within the period.

The ministry also announced that passengers who purchased tickets before the fare reduction was introduced would receive a 50 per cent rebate, which can be used for train trips on or before June 1.

It added that train schedules and timetables would remain unchanged throughout the festive period.

The Federal Ministry of Transportation wished Nigerians and Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration while appreciating citizens for their continued support.
