Those Opposing Southern Governors’ Ban On Open Grazing Have Hidden Agenda, Ortom Backs Southern Governors

Benue State Governor , Samuel Ortom on Thursday backs Southern Governors ’ decision on banning open grazing of cattle in their territories, saying, those opposing them has hidden agenda.

Ortom made this known in his remark at Holy Ghost Parish Hall in Makurdi while delivering his speech on the occasion of ‘Media Week and Communications Day 2021’, organised by the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi.

He said that his colleagues from the southern part of the country had chosen the right path towards addressing insecurity in Nigeria as he noted that open grazing was no longer feasible in the country due to development and population growth.

He, however, maintained that Nigeria remains a great country with huge potentials and should, ordinarily, have no business with poverty if only there were guaranteed security for lives and property and the people are allowed to remain stable in their localities to explore opportunities in farming and other ventures.

Ortom expressed appreciation to the Church and Muslims in Benue state as well as residents and citizens for being supportive of his administration just as he acknowledged the good reportage of government policies and programmes by the Directorate of Social Communication, Catholic Diocese of Makurdi.
