President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, for a decades-long diplomatic career and his contributions to Nigeria’s foreign policy and international engagements.
Tinubu described Enikanolaiye as a distinguished diplomat, accomplished administrator and dedicated public servant whose career reflects professionalism, patriotism and commitment to Nigeria.
The President’s message was contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, to mark Enikanolaiye’s birthday.
Enikanolaiye served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from August 1982 to August 2017, rising through the ranks to become Permanent Secretary. He later served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations before his appointment as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Tinubu commended his contributions to Nigeria’s diplomatic service through assignments at the ministry’s headquarters and in Nigerian missions abroad.
The President also highlighted Enikanolaiye’s role in the formulation and implementation of Nigeria’s foreign policy, as well as the country’s multilateral engagements with the United Nations, African Union, Commonwealth and other international organisations.
Tinubu said Enikanolaiye’s appointment as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs was a fitting recognition of his record of service and extensive diplomatic experience.
“Ambassador Enikanolaiye, your distinguished career has been defined by professionalism, intellectual depth, discipline and an unwavering commitment to Nigeria,” the President said.
“Your extensive experience in diplomacy, international relations, administration and strategic affairs remains an invaluable asset in strengthening Nigeria’s standing and influence in the international community.”
Tinubu expressed confidence that Enikanolaiye would continue to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic institutions and advance the country’s interests on the global stage.
The President also prayed for good health, wisdom and strength for the minister to continue serving the country.
