Transforming Lives with Tongues of Fire: Insights from Pst. Chetachukwu Israel-Ajadi

Pst. Chetachukwu Israel-Ajadi, wife of the pastor in charge of Aroma of Christ Zone, illuminated the significance of tongues of fire in the life of believers. Drawing from Acts 2:1-47, she underscored how the transformative power of the Holy Spirit can turn a believer’s words into instruments of divine impact.

Speaking on the Tongue as a double-edged sword, she described the tongue,” explained, “is a fleshy, muscular organ used for tasting, licking, swallowing, and articulating speech. Fire, on the other hand, is a consuming force that produces heat, light, and smoke.” She highlighted that there are two kinds of tongues: the tongues of the Word of God, fueled by the Holy Spirit, and the tongue within our body members, which can be set ablaze by hell.

She gave this hint in her seminar topic:” Tongues of Fire” at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) FCT Province 7 Sister’s Convention converned by the wife of the pastor in charge of the Province, Pastor Mrs Moyomola Okemuyiwa on Saturday in Abuja.

Tongues of the Word of God: This type is powered by the Spirit of God. “The disciples had the Word and instructions from Jesus but could not do exploits until they received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost,” she said. This fire emboldens believers to preach the gospel, heal the sick, and perform miracles.

The Tongue Within Our Body Members: This tongue, if not tamed, can spread gossip, lies, and slander. Pst. Israel-Ajadi referred to James 3:6, which describes the tongue as a fire, a world of iniquity, capable of defiling the whole body.

Pst. Mrs. Israel-Ajadi drew a parallel between the confusion of tongues at Babel (Genesis 11:3-9) and the unifying tongues of fire at Pentecost. “At Babel, God confused their language to halt their prideful plans. At Pentecost, He poured out His Spirit so that the gospel could be clearly proclaimed,” she said. This divine intervention transformed the destructive nature of the human tongue into a powerful tool for spreading the gospel.

Every believer receives this transformative fire upon being baptized in the Holy Spirit. This fire emboldens them to: Preach the Gospel Boldly like Peter at Pentecost, who led 3,000 souls to Christ with his Spirit-empowered words; Pray Fervently: With a fiery tongue, prayers are fervent and effective; and Offer Authentic Praise: Worship and thanksgiving become more profound and impactful.

Examples of Spirit-empowered Believers: Peter and John in Acts 3, they healed a lame man at the Beautiful Gate, demonstrating the power of tongues of fire; Paul and Silas in Acts 16, their prayers and songs led to a miraculous jailbreak; and Philip in Acts 8, he powerfully preached to the Ethiopian eunuch, spreading the gospel.

Pst. Mrs. Israel-Ajadi concluded by urging believers to embrace the tongues of fire. “This fire maximizes God’s grace in your life and empowers your voice to command authority and power,” she affirmed. She led a prayer for believers to receive the fire of the Holy Spirit and use their tongues to do exploits for God’s kingdom.

Pst. Chetachukwu Israel-Ajadi’s insights serve as a compelling reminder of the power of the Holy Spirit to transform lives through the gift of tongues of fire, making believers effective witnesses of the gospel.
