Troops Rescue Kidnapped Pupils in Sokoto State

In a commendable display of valor and coordination, the Nigerian military, in collaboration with local authorities and government agencies, successfully rescued 16 kidnapped pupils, known as Almajiris, along with a woman in Gada Local Government Area (LGA) of Sokoto State. The daring rescue operation, executed on 21st March 2024, marks a significant victory in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insecurity in the region.

This significant achievement was announced in a statement signed by Major Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations. The rescued hostages have been safely handed over to the Sokoto State Government for further care and support.

Furthermore, the Nigerian armed forces have reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. Efforts to locate and rescue other innocent hostages and apprehend the perpetrators of these heinous crimes are ongoing. The military pledges to relentlessly pursue and bring to justice the terrorists responsible for these acts, in accordance with Nigerian law.

In addition to the successful rescue operation, the armed forces are intensifying efforts to apprehend the culprits behind the recent killings of 18 soldiers in Okuama Community, Delta State, on 14th March 2024. To curb the activities of terrorists and instigators of insecurity nationwide, the military has released banners featuring wanted terrorists and their associates. These banners will be strategically deployed across the country to facilitate the identification and apprehension of the wanted individuals.

The public is urged to cooperate with security forces and report any relevant information to the appropriate authorities promptly. The deployment of these banners aims to enhance public awareness and support in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and insecurity, ensuring a safer and more secure environment for all Nigerians.
