Wike Calls for unity , discipline within People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Ahead of 2027 Election

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister recently made a passionate call for unity and discipline within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), highlighting the need for members to prioritize party cohesion over personal ambitions as Nigeria’s opposition prepares for crucial upcoming elections.

Speaking during a live broadcast on Wednesday, the minister urged party leaders to take concrete steps toward strengthening the PDP’s organizational structure and impact. “You can’t just sit in a corner and complain the party isn’t functioning well,” he remarked.

“As leaders, we must step up with concrete actions, not words, to unify and fortify our ranks.”

To foster this unity, the minister proposed a strategic approach: allowing current party executives to fulfill their tenures, followed by a national convention slated for October or November.

This plan, he explained, would ensure a seamless transition to new leadership committed to the party’s broader mission.

“It’s not about going on television to talk or point fingers; it’s about galvanizing our colleagues to fund and sustain the party,” he emphasized, noting that meaningful progress requires personal sacrifice and collective effort.

The minister also tackled the issue of self-interest among party members, warning that unchecked ambition could undermine the PDP’s long-term goals.

Drawing from his extensive political experience, he underscored the importance of unity, compromise, and unwavering commitment to the party’s vision.

His remarks serve as a rallying cry, urging party members to put aside personal differences and focus on securing victory in 2027.

His call for stability and a shared purpose underscores a pivotal juncture for Nigeria’s opposition. By appealing for unity grounded in a commitment to the party and nation, the minister’s message resonates as a clarion call to prioritize collective progress over individual ambition.
