The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has urged residents to uphold the virtues of unity, peace, and generosity as they celebrate the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr festival.
In a goodwill message marking the end of Ramadan, Wike felicitated Muslim faithful and all FCT residents, emphasizing the importance of sustaining the values of self-discipline, charity, and devotion beyond the holy month.
> “Ramadan is a period of deep spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and an opportunity to draw closer to Almighty Allah. I pray that He, in His infinite mercy, accepts all our acts of worship, supplications, and sacrifices during this blessed month and rewards us abundantly,” Wike stated.
Promoting Unity and Religious Harmony
Recognizing Abuja as Nigeria’s center of unity, the minister called for peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and interfaith harmony among residents, stressing that religious and ethnic diversity should be a source of strength, not division.
> “The FCT is the center of unity of our great nation, and it is our collective responsibility to uphold and exhibit that unity at all times. Let us live in peace and harmony, respecting one another irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, and working together for the common good,” he added.
Commitment to Security and Development
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the security and welfare of residents, Wike assured that the FCT Administration (FCTA) would continue implementing policies and projects to enhance infrastructure and improve quality of life.
He also urged residents to be vigilant and proactive in reporting suspicious activities to security agencies, emphasizing that safety is a shared responsibility.
> “As residents of the nation’s capital, we must all take responsibility for ensuring peace and stability in our communities. I call on you to resist any attempt by individuals or groups seeking to create disharmony or disrupt the peace we cherish,” he cautioned.
Prayers for National Progress
The minister further encouraged FCT residents to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders, seeking divine guidance in their efforts to build a peaceful, prosperous, and united Nigeria.
> “The task of building a Territory that reflects our collective dreams—one of peace, prosperity, and unity—is immense. We need your support, faith, and most importantly, your prayers for divine wisdom and guidance in this endeavor,” he urged.
Wike concluded by wishing all residents a peaceful and joyous Eid celebration.
