About 500 Islamic scholars and religious leaders from across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027, according to his Special Adviser on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Masari.
Masari disclosed this after attending the Northern Muslim Intellectual Forum held at the Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall, New Secretariat, Dutse, Jigawa State.
The forum attracted Islamic scholars, intellectuals, clerics and other stakeholders who reviewed the security, economic and developmental challenges facing Northern Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by Masari’s media office, participants expressed satisfaction with what they described as the Tinubu administration’s efforts to tackle insecurity and address infrastructure and economic challenges in the region.
The statement said the gathering attracted about 500 Islamic scholars and religious leaders, including Sheikhs, Imams, Qur’anic memorizers and Islamic preachers.
It added that the participants unanimously passed a resolution endorsing Tinubu for another term in office, citing his administration’s economic reforms, infrastructure development, security measures and broader national transformation agenda.
The statement quoted the participants as urging Nigerians, particularly Northerners, to support Tinubu and vote for him and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 elections.
The forum also passed a vote of confidence in the President and called for greater unity, political stability and constructive engagement among political, religious and community leaders.
Among dignitaries who attended the meeting were Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi; Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf; Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni; Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu; and Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani.
Also present were Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, and Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaka Darma.
The endorsement came shortly after the APC released the list of members of Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
