2027: ADC Sets Stage For National Convention, Party Reforms

The African Democratic Congress has announced plans to hold its National Convention as part of moves to strengthen the party and reposition it ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made in a statement issued in Abuja by the acting Chairman of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Kingsley Ogga.

According to the statement, the convention will bring together party stakeholders, delegates, state executives, youth leaders, women groups and political observers from across the country.

The party explained that the gathering would serve as a platform to strengthen its internal democratic structures, review its political direction and consolidate preparations for the 2027 polls.

The ADC said the convention would feature the inauguration and ratification of members of the party’s National Working Committee, discussions on party primaries and consultations on expanding the party’s structures nationwide.

It added that strategies for grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections would also form part of deliberations at the convention.

According to the statement, discussions would further focus on national development, youth participation, women inclusion, party reforms and the role of the ADC in deepening democratic governance in Nigeria.

“The gathering represents a significant step towards building a stronger and more united political platform capable of providing credible leadership and alternative governance for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections,” the statement said.

The party also invited members of the public, civil society organisations, party supporters and the media to participate in the convention.
