2027: APGA, APC, PDP, Accord Collapse Structures for Tinubu in Anambra

President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign received a major boost in Anambra State on Sunday as four political parties, including the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party, joined forces to mobilise support for his second-term ambition.

The political alliance was formalised at the International Conference Centre, Awka, where Governor Chukwuma Soludo inaugurated a 4,600-member Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) comprising members of the four political parties.

The council, which has Soludo as its state coordinator, pledged to work together to secure Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the inauguration, Soludo said the South-East must move beyond what he described as emotional politics and embrace strategic political partnerships to advance the region’s interests at the national level.

The governor argued that the region’s longstanding quest to produce Nigeria’s president had yielded little progress, stressing the need for greater political engagement with the Federal Government.

“What we are battling with is between emotion and reason, and we have been through this before. Ndigbo have been battling to produce the President of Nigeria since 1979 to date.

“We have been having all other positions but the Presidency. How do we get there?” he asked.

Soludo maintained that strategic cooperation with the Federal Government was necessary to attract infrastructure and development projects to the South-East, noting that the resources for such projects largely came from the centre.

“This is why it matters that we back the government at the centre, and some people are saying no, and let us fail. But there are consequences for failing, and no one gets second position in an election. It is always first,” he said.

He described the region’s political isolation as a major setback, arguing that its previous approach of opposition politics had not delivered the desired results.

“Our lone ranger status in politics is our bane, and we shall continue to say the truth no matter what they say,” he added.

The governor further argued that supporting Tinubu was in the interest of the South-East, despite the region’s limited electoral support for the President in the 2023 election.

Deputy National Organising Secretary of the APC, Emeka Okafor, who represented the party’s National Chairman, described the alliance as commendable and capable of producing significant benefits for the South-East.

He said the political partnership among the four parties would have multiplier effects on infrastructure and development across the region.

“We commend Mr Governor for this meeting, and we in the APC are in total support of this alliance and urge everyone to embrace it,” Okafor said.

Similarly, the Anambra State APC Chairman, Senator Emma Anosike, praised Soludo’s administration and described the alliance as an opportunity for the state to become more actively involved in national governance.

Anosike said Tinubu’s administration had improved infrastructure connectivity in the South-East, citing the improved journey between Enugu and Awka.

He expressed confidence that the partnership between APGA, APC, PDP and Accord would strengthen the President’s electoral prospects in Anambra.

He also urged political aspirants seeking other elective positions to demonstrate their capacity during campaigns, while insisting that Tinubu’s re-election remained the alliance’s major priority.

In his remarks, APGA National Chairman, Sylvester Ezeokenwa, described the gathering as significant because it brought together political parties and interests across Anambra State.

He said the parties had united behind a common objective of securing Tinubu’s second term.

“For the first time, this is happening in Anambra State, and we commend Mr Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, for making this happen.

“Today, we have the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Accord Party supporting one presidential candidate.

“This task is a very simple task and a very easy task, and together, victory is assured,” Ezeokenwa said.

Also speaking, the APC senatorial candidate for Anambra Central, Senator Uche Ekwunife, commended Soludo for bringing together prominent political figures from the four parties.

She described the initiative as a major step towards Tinubu’s re-election and urged members of the alliance to intensify mobilisation and ensure effective coordination ahead of the 2027 polls.

The inauguration marked a significant political alignment in Anambra State, with the participating parties pledging to mobilise their structures and supporters behind Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
