2027: Makinde Campaign Takes ‘Reset Nigeria’ Message Across Six Zones

The Seyi Makinde/Lawal Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has commenced nationwide consultations through zonal town hall meetings ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The campaign said the meetings, scheduled across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, would provide an avenue for citizens and stakeholders to engage directly with APM presidential candidate and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and his running mate, Lawal Daura, on issues affecting the country.

The campaign’s Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communication, Tony Ehilebo, disclosed this in Abuja on Sunday while briefing journalists on the organisation’s mobilisation and consultation activities.

Ehilebo said the meetings would be “issue-based and citizen-driven”, with particular attention to national stability, governance and the welfare of Nigerians.

He said the North-West leg of the programme would commence in Katsina, Katsina State, followed by the South-South meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The North-Central town hall is scheduled for Lafia, Nasarawa State, while Enugu, Enugu State, will host the South-East meeting.

According to Ehilebo, dates and venues for the North-East and South-West meetings would be announced later.

He said the consultations were designed to give Nigerians an opportunity to articulate their concerns and expectations, which the campaign intends to incorporate into its political agenda.

Ehilebo said the central message of the campaign was to “Reset Nigeria”, with emphasis on accessible leadership, accountability and service to citizens.

“The Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign message of Reset Nigeria is resonating across the country,” he said.

He added that the campaign was seeking to promote a political movement in which citizens would have a stronger voice in determining how public resources were managed and government policies formulated.

According to him, the proposed “Reset Nigeria” agenda would focus on transparency in public resource management, accountability in governance and greater recognition of the contributions and aspirations of Nigerians.

“Our campaign belongs to the people,” Ehilebo said, adding that the objective was to build a country where citizens’ views were respected and their contributions valued.

The campaign spokesman also said the organisation had continued to mobilise support in different parts of the country since Makinde emerged as the APM presidential candidate.

He attributed what he described as growing interest in the ticket to Makinde’s appeal across ethnic, religious and socioeconomic groups.

Ehilebo also cited recent off-cycle and bye-elections, including the Bauchi State House of Assembly bye-election, as part of what he described as indications of the party’s grassroots mobilisation.

The campaign organisation said the town hall meetings would form part of its broader nationwide consultations as it seeks to expand its engagement with communities, civil society groups and other stakeholders ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

It urged Nigerians to participate in the meetings and use the platforms to present their concerns and expectations for the next administration.

The campaign also thanked its supporters and other Nigerians for what it described as their solidarity, urging them to remain engaged as the APM intensifies its mobilisation.

The “Reset Nigeria” town halls are part of the campaign’s wider effort to take its policy message and consultations directly to citizens across the six geopolitical zones ahead of the January 2027 presidential election.
