Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has declared that his administration’s achievements and development projects will speak for him as he seeks re-election in 2027.
Alia, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo, said he was not distracted by what he described as opposition attacks and political tantrums.
The governor said his administration was focused on transforming Benue through massive infrastructure development, investment attraction, improved workers’ welfare and stronger accountability in governance.
According to him, the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Hudson Global Ltd, expected to attract $5 billion investment, was part of efforts to reposition the state’s economy and create opportunities for its people.
The statement issued on Sunday said the growing confidence in Benue’s economic prospects was a result of deliberate policies and reforms by the administration.
“The growing confidence in Benue’s economic prospects is not accidental,” the statement said.
It added that the impact of the administration’s policies was already being felt across the state through the construction of rural and urban roads, regular payment of salaries and gratuities, as well as the establishment of the Food Basket Bakery.
“The difference is also visible in the everyday lives of the people. The construction of rural and urban roads, consistent payment of salaries and gratuities, and the establishment of the Food Basket Bakery are among the achievements that cannot be hidden,” the statement added.
Alia urged opposition politicians to stop what he described as unnecessary distractions and allow his administration to concentrate on delivering good governance to the people.
He maintained that his government had introduced greater transparency and accountability in the management of the state’s resources.
The governor’s office also said the administration had received certifications and recognition from reputable international audit firms, while restoring Benue to a creditworthy position and improving the state’s investment climate.
Alia said the administration’s focus remained on delivering tangible development to the people, insisting that its record in office would ultimately determine the verdict of voters in 2027.
