The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council as it steps up preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The council comprises zonal and state coordinators as well as directors overseeing mobilisation, women affairs, strategy, security, legal affairs, information technology, administration and other key areas.
John Ughulu, the movement’s Director-General, was named Director-General of the campaign council, while its National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, is also part of the campaign leadership.
The structure covers Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, with coordinators appointed for the 36 states.
The development is part of the movement’s preparations to mobilise support for the joint presidential ticket of Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
In a message congratulating the newly appointed council members, Sani described their selection as a call to duty, sacrifice, leadership and service to Nigeria.
She urged members to take the message and aspirations of the movement’s principals from the cities to local governments, wards and communities across the country.
Sani said the movement was focused on mobilising Nigerians around what it described as a vision of a more prosperous, united and functional Nigeria.
She added that the campaign council would require discipline, effective communication, strategic thinking, grassroots mobilisation and teamwork to carry out its assignment.
Among the zonal coordinators are Suleiman Abubakar, North-Central; Hashimu Dungurawa, North-West; Amadu Gwambe, North-East; Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye, South-West; Christopher Ighodaro, South-South; and El-Shaddai Ikeh, South-East.
The movement also named coordinators for the 36 states and the FCT.
Other appointments include Rev. Mike Agbon as Director of Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria; Sabo Gashua, Grassroots Mobilisation; Glory Adayi, Women Affairs; Kabir Yahaya, Contact and Engagement; Abdumumini Tijjani, Mobilisation; and Yusuf Mani, Special Duties.
Peace Daful was appointed Director of Procurement, Prof Charles Nwekeaku, Director of South Eastern Town Hall, while Sunmisola Adebayo was named Director of Information Technology.
Kingdom Okere will oversee Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri will handle Strategy and Planning, retired CSP Richard Enemona will head Security and Intelligence, while Aisha Abdulrahaman was appointed Director of Administration.
The movement had earlier stated that it would retain its independent structure rather than merge with another political organisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The unveiling also follows the movement’s recent condemnation of the reported disruption of Obi’s convoy during his visit to Benue State, with the group calling for an impartial investigation into the incident.
