Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dr Wole Oluyede, has mobilised canvassers across the state’s 16 local government areas to campaign for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Oluyede said the canvassers would embark on door-to-door mobilisation for the President, describing the initiative as an effort to demonstrate support for Tinubu across political divides in the state.
He spoke at a mobilisation rally organised by his Oluyede Progressives Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda.
Oluyede, who contested the June 20, 2026 Ekiti governorship election, said he would work with his supporters and other stakeholders to mobilise support for Tinubu across the state.
He said: “I want to thank the PDP for agreeing with me that we are going to support the President. My duty is to ensure that we support him in all the local governments.
“We are going to win this election with 90 per cent. We are going to work hard to make sure that we deliver 90 per cent for him.
“These people are already committed. They are going to go door to door in all the 16 local governments to canvass for the President and, on election day, they will stand by him.”
Oluyede also appealed to Tinubu to reciprocate the support by continuing to prioritise development projects and programmes in Ekiti State.
The development follows Oluyede’s recent decision to withdraw his legal challenge against the outcome of the 2026 governorship election. He subsequently said he would support Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.
Speaking at the mobilisation event, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji commended Oluyede and his supporters for putting political differences aside to work together in support of Tinubu.
Oyebanji described the collaboration as an indication that political differences should not override the collective interests of Ekiti State.
The governor also recalled the peaceful conduct of the 2026 governorship election, saying the development reflected the importance of maintaining peace and unity in the state.
He said: “I am grateful for your generosity of spirit. I am grateful for your love for Ekiti. I am grateful for your commitment to peace and I am grateful because I know your capacity.”
Oyebanji said the cooperation between supporters of the APC and PDP who back Tinubu should extend to the ward and local government levels.
According to him, members of both parties should work together, hold joint meetings where necessary and avoid unnecessary rivalry during the mobilisation.
He also urged supporters of the alliance to intensify grassroots engagement and mobilise voters ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Oyebanji said the collaboration between him and Oluyede could serve as an example of political cooperation, stressing the need to place the interests of Ekiti above partisan differences.
Oluyede and Oyebanji have publicly moved towards cooperation following the 2026 governorship election. The governor was declared winner of the poll by INEC, while Oluyede later withdrew his election petition challenging the result.
