Abuja, Nigeria — The Authority Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Mr. Rabiu Abdullahi Umar, has paid a courtesy visit to the Commission Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, in a move aimed at strengthening regulatory collaboration across Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
The visit, which took place at the NUPRC headquarters in Abuja, marks Umar’s first official outing since his appointment as substantive head of the NMDPRA.
He was accompanied by members of his management team, underscoring the importance attached to the engagement between the two key regulatory institutions.
During the meeting, both chief executives discussed areas of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in line with the objectives of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
They emphasised the need for stronger synergy between upstream, midstream, and downstream regulators to enhance efficiency, improve industry performance, and create a more stable operating environment for stakeholders.

The engagement also highlighted the role of coordinated regulation in driving sustainable development within Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, as well as boosting investor confidence and unlocking new opportunities.
Both regulators expressed optimism that sustained collaboration and professional alignment would further strengthen the petroleum industry and support long-term growth.
