The Kano/Jigawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has generated a record ₦88.93 billion in revenue in the first eight months of 2026.
The Area Controller, Comptroller UU Adamu, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Kano on the command’s revenue performance and anti-smuggling activities.
Adamu said the command’s year-to-date revenue rose from ₦63.08 billion to ₦88.93 billion, representing an increase of about ₦25 billion.
He described July 2026 as a major milestone for the command, saying it recorded its highest monthly revenue collection of more than ₦14 billion.
The Comptroller said the command’s achievements extended beyond revenue generation, noting that intensified anti-smuggling operations across Kano and Jigawa had led to the seizure of prohibited and restricted goods.
Among the items intercepted were smuggled food products, refined vegetable oil, soaps, diverted transit truck heads and other contraband, with a combined duty-paid value running into hundreds of millions of naira.
Adamu reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Customs Service to protecting the nation’s economy, public health, national security and environment through effective enforcement of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.
He urged importers, traders and other stakeholders to comply with customs regulations, warning that the command would sustain intelligence-driven operations against smuggling syndicates and other forms of illegal cross-border trade.
The Area Controller said the command would continue to combine revenue mobilisation with enforcement measures aimed at safeguarding legitimate trade and Nigeria’s economic interests.
