…Vows to End APC’s ‘Era of Failure’
The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has formally kicked off its campaign for the 2027 presidential election, with Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the party, Seyi Makinde, commissioning its national campaign office in Abuja.
The facility, named the Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Office, will serve as the national coordination centre for the party’s campaign ahead of the presidential election.
The APM National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, who disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, said the party’s campaign would focus on issues, practical solutions and policies capable of addressing the challenges facing Nigerians.
The party said it would also showcase Makinde’s record in public service and governance while presenting his candidacy as an alternative to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“APM begins this journey with confidence, humility and an unwavering commitment to present Nigerians with a credible alternative and leadership capable of restoring hope, security, prosperity and national pride,” the statement said.
According to the party, the emergence of Makinde and his running mate, Lawan Daura, as its presidential and vice-presidential candidates has generated growing interest in the party.
APM attributed the development to what it described as public confidence in the integrity, competence and track records of the two candidates.
The party described Makinde’s candidacy as a combination of administrative experience, competence and youthful energy, which it said would prepare him for effective leadership at the national level.
It further disclosed that Makinde had commenced consultations with political leaders, stakeholders and communities across the country as part of efforts to understand their concerns and aspirations.
APM said the consultations would contribute to the development of a comprehensive national agenda focused on addressing Nigeria’s economic, security and governance challenges.
The party said it would unveil its detailed policy blueprint at the appropriate time, promising practical and measurable solutions to the country’s major challenges.
However, the party took a swipe at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that the Tinubu administration had failed to deliver enough achievements to campaign on ahead of the 2027 election.
APM said the forthcoming election would offer Nigerians an opportunity to choose between retaining the current administration and what it described as a national “reset” under Makinde.
The party expressed confidence that voters would reject what it termed “failure” and use their democratic power to elect an accountable, competent and responsive government under its platform.
It said the Makinde/Daura campaign would focus on restoring hope, strengthening national security, promoting economic prosperity and building a more united and functional Nigeria.
