Alexander-Arnold, Palmer Return as Tuchel Names England Squad

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Cole Palmer have returned to the England squad after being left out of the country’s World Cup campaign by manager Thomas Tuchel.

The duo were named on Friday in Tuchel’s 27-man squad for England’s upcoming three-week, four-game Nations League camp.

Real Madrid defender Alexander-Arnold, who previously played for Liverpool, returns to international duty for the first time since June 2025.

Palmer, meanwhile, has been recalled after controversially missing England’s World Cup squad, with the team eventually reaching the semi-finals before losing to Argentina.

Teenage winger Rio Ngumoha, Alex Scott and Jarrad Branthwaite are also among the notable inclusions.

Ngumoha impressed on his England debut against New Zealand in June, while Scott, who is yet to win a senior cap, had previously been involved in the team’s pre-tournament training camp in Florida.

Branthwaite, whose only England appearance came in June 2024, received his first call-up under Tuchel.

Lewis Hall, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Dominic Calvert-Lewin also return to the squad.
However, Tuchel left out several players who featured in England’s World Cup campaign, including Phil Foden, Morgan Gibbs-White and Adam Wharton.

Ollie Watkins, Ivan Toney and Noni Madueke were also dropped from the latest squad.
The squad includes captain Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
