AMAC Chairman’s Aide Cheats Death in Abuja Horror Crash

ABUJA — There was panic in Abuja on Wednesday as the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Comrade Kingsley Madaki, cheated death after his official vehicle was involved in a ghastly road crash.

Madaki was heading to the commissioning of the 20-unit Judges’ Quarters in Katampe District, where he was to join his principal, AMAC Chairman Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, when tragedy struck.

The official Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV, bearing registration number ABC 107 AC, was reportedly hit by a speeding ash-coloured Toyota Avenza with Lagos registration number KJA 464 FU.

Eyewitnesses said the Toyota Avenza, allegedly driven by a woman, suddenly emerged at high speed and slammed into the passenger side of the SUV where Madaki was seated.

The violent impact triggered the vehicle’s airbags and forced the SUV onto the road median, leaving it badly damaged.

Police officers and sympathisers rushed to the scene, rescued the occupants from the mangled vehicle and cleared the wreckage to prevent a traffic gridlock.

Madaki and his driver, Wisdom Ihezukwu, were immediately taken to Model Care Hospital on Bilayamin Usman Street for treatment.

While Madaki was treated and discharged to continue recovery at home, his driver, who suffered serious injuries and lost a significant amount of blood, remained hospitalised.

Hospital sources said the driver underwent medical scans to determine the extent of injuries to his chest and other parts of his body. He was reported to be in stable condition while awaiting the outcome of the examinations.

The accidented vehicles have been moved to the Utako Police Station as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
