The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at Governor Seyi Makinde, accusing his administration of allowing the health, education and other critical sectors to deteriorate despite increased federal allocations to the state.
The opposition party said the government must urgently address what it described as widespread decay, citing a viral video showing a man lamenting the absence of doctors and other medical personnel at Adeoyo State Hospital, Yemetu, Ibadan, as evidence of the challenges facing the healthcare system.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the APC alleged that many public hospitals, including LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, Adeoyo State Hospitals in Yemetu and Ring Road, as well as several general hospitals, lack functional laboratories and essential medical equipment such as MRI and X-ray machines.
The party also claimed that public schools are plagued by dilapidated classrooms and welfare concerns affecting teachers.
It further accused the Makinde administration of focusing more on politics than governance, urging the governor to take immediate steps to improve healthcare, education and other key sectors in the interest of Oyo residents.
