The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has stepped up efforts to heal the cracks left by its governorship primaries, as the party’s Reconciliation Committee held separate meetings with aggrieved governorship aspirants in a bid to restore unity ahead of future political contests.
In a communiqué issued on Friday and jointly signed by the committee’s Co-Chairmen, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin and Professor Taoheed Adedoja, the panel said the consultations were part of its mandate to reconcile party members after the recently concluded primaries.
The committee disclosed that it met with Engr. Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan, Prince Asatola Ashanke, Dr. Ololade Usman Bakare, Engr. Oyedele Hakeem Alao and Dr. Ayobami Lam-Adesina during meetings held on July 8 and July 10, 2026.
It noted that another aspirant, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem, had earlier declared support for the APC governorship candidate.
According to the committee, the aspirants expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct and outcome of the governorship primaries, raising concerns they urged the panel to address in the interest of justice, fairness and party unity.
Despite their grievances, the aspirants reaffirmed their commitment to the APC and pledged to continue engaging with the reconciliation committee to find lasting solutions that would strengthen the party.
The committee assured the aspirants that the reconciliation process would be handled with sincerity, transparency and fairness, promising that every concern raised would receive due consideration.
In a major development, the aspirants unanimously agreed to honour any invitation by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to discuss their grievances and seek a lasting resolution to the crisis.
The panel also resolved to meet with other governorship aspirants who were absent from the initial consultations, as well as other key stakeholders, to ensure an inclusive reconciliation process.
It further pledged to forward the concerns of the aspirants to the APC leadership, including President Tinubu, with the hope of achieving lasting peace within the party.
The committee expressed confidence that the ongoing reconciliation exercise would strengthen unity, foster peace and position the APC for future electoral success in Oyo State.
