Abuja, Nigeria — The Nigerian Army has approved a major redeployment of GOCs and senior officers across key commands, formations and institutions as part of efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness and enhance national security.
The development was announced in a statement signed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele.
According to the statement, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, authorised the strategic reshuffle covering field commanders, training institutions and principal staff officers at Army Headquarters.
In the new postings, Major General WM Dangana was appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, replacing Major General EF Oyinlola. Major General EI Okoro takes over as GOC 6 Division and Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force South-South Operation Delta Safe, succeeding Major General EE Emeka.
Major General JR Lar has been named Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison, while Brigadier General OM Oyekola assumes office as Acting Military Secretary (Army). Brigadier General I Waziri remains Chief of Staff to the COAS.
As part of measures to deepen operational leadership, Brigadier General IB Buhari has been appointed Commander, 63 Brigade, while Brigadier General K Rabiu takes command of the 31 Artillery Brigade.
In a move reflecting the Army’s growing focus on technology-driven security operations, Major General SA Emmanuel has been appointed Commander, Nigerian Army Space Command. Similarly, Major General O Adegbe has been named Director of Intelligence and Security at Defence Headquarters.
The reshuffle also affected military training and educational institutions. Major General KE Chigbu was appointed Deputy Commandant, National Defence College, while Major General SD Makolo becomes Commandant, Nigerian Army Armour School. Major General SO Adejimi will head the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport, and Major General FS Etim has been appointed Chief of Training at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC).
Brigadier General U Ahmad takes over as Commandant, Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria.
In other appointments, Major General KO Ukandu was named Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Post Housing Development Limited, while Major General AI Allison becomes Managing Director of Defence Properties Limited.
The COAS charged the newly appointed officers to justify the confidence reposed in them through professionalism, innovation and dedication to duty.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to building a combat-ready and people-oriented force capable of addressing evolving security challenges across the country.
