CAN Mourns Uduaghan, Says Nigeria Has Lost a Voice for Peace

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has mourned the death of former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, describing his contributions to public service, dialogue and national unity as worthy of recognition.

CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, in a condolence statement issued on Monday, October 19, 2026, expressed sadness over the former governor’s death and extended the association’s sympathies to his family, the Delta State Government and the people of the state.

Okoh said Uduaghan played a notable role during a period of heightened political tension in Nigeria, adding that his commitment to dialogue and confidence-building remained an important part of his public service record.

According to him, the former governor’s efforts towards preserving national unity would be remembered by those who valued his contributions to governance and nation-building.

“His passing is a loss to his family and all who valued his contributions to public service and nation-building,” the CAN president said.

He prayed that God would comfort Uduaghan’s family and all those mourning him, while granting the deceased eternal rest.

The association’s statement adds to tributes recognising the former governor’s place in Delta State’s political history and his contributions to public affairs.
