Chelsea have slammed the door on several bids for highly-rated defender Josh Acheampong, making it clear the young star is going nowhere this summer.
The Blues are determined to keep hold of the 20-year-old academy graduate, who has now been placed on the club’s list of “untouchable” players despite attracting interest from rival Premier League sides.
Acheampong is regarded as a key part of Chelsea’s long-term plans and is reportedly viewed in the same category as some of the club’s biggest stars, including Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Moises Caicedo.
Although the England Under-21 international has limited first-team experience, Chelsea remain convinced he has the talent to become a major figure at Stamford Bridge.
The defender made 17 Premier League appearances last season, with nine coming from the bench, but his performances have not gone unnoticed.
Arsenal, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are all said to be monitoring the youngster, while Bournemouth have continued to track his progress after showing interest last summer.
However, Chelsea hold all the cards, with Acheampong tied to a long-term contract that runs until 2029.
While questions remain over whether the defender may seek more regular first-team football, Chelsea have no intention of cashing in.
The club’s latest stance sends a strong message to interested suitors: Josh Acheampong is a vital part of Chelsea’s future and is simply not for sale.
