LAGOS — Nigerian singer Davido has recalled an extraordinary trip to Lebanon during which a Lebanese host arranged a private jet for him and 15 friends and later gifted Rolex watches to the entire group.
Davido shared the experience during an appearance on the Uncut podcast, where he was asked to name a gift that remained particularly memorable to him.
According to the singer, he and his friends were in Dubai when a Lebanese family they had met invited them to Lebanon. When Davido explained that he was travelling with 15 friends, the host offered to accommodate the entire group and arranged a private jet for them.
Davido said the group was taken directly from the aircraft to their hotel, where each of his friends had a separate room.
He recalled being taken to dinner and later returning to the hotel, where he noticed a luxury watch displayed near an elevator.
“There was an AP store; it was next to the elevator, so I just stopped and looked and said, ‘Oh wow, nice watches,’ and I went upstairs,” Davido said.
The singer said he did not expect anything further from the encounter and went to bed with his friends.
Rolex watches for the entire group
According to Davido, the surprise came the following morning when he went to the hotel’s dining room.
“When I got to the dining table, not only did I see that AP watch, but he bought Rolexes for all 15 of my other friends,” he said.
Davido added that his personal cook, who had travelled with him, also received a Rolex.
“That was the first time I was surprised. My cook, who followed me, got a Rolex too,” he said.
The singer described the experience as the most unforgettable gift he had received, highlighting the scale of the gesture and the fact that the gifts extended beyond him to his friends and cook.
His account has since drawn attention because of the extraordinary hospitality, private travel arrangements and luxury gifts involved in the Lebanon trip.
