Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have recorded major breakthroughs in their ongoing crackdown on violent crimes across the state, rescuing a kidnapped victim unhurt, arresting suspected armed robbers, and recovering a firearm and hard drugs in separate operations.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the developments, describing them as part of sustained intelligence-led efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
He said operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad (SAKU) successfully rescued a male victim abducted by armed men in Okpanam on June 10, 2026, without payment of ransom.
According to him, the operation followed a swift response to intelligence received on June 11, prompting a coordinated search mission that forced the abductors to abandon the victim and flee.
“As pressure mounted on the kidnappers through sustained intelligence gathering and operational deployment, the suspects abandoned the victim and fled from their hideout,” Edafe said.
He added that the victim was rescued unhurt, debriefed, and reunited with his family, while efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
In another operation, operatives of the Distress 01 Patrol Team arrested three suspected cult members during a routine patrol in Asaba on June 12, 2026, at about 12:30pm.
The suspects—Ewendeze De-Grace (19), Eruweghene Amede (20), and Chukwuemeka Arinze (21)—were intercepted in a tricycle and searched, leading to the recovery of a locally fabricated Beretta pistol.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are members of the Aro Bagger Confraternity,” the police spokesman said, adding that the suspects and the recovered weapon are in custody.
In a separate raid, operatives of the Kwale Division acting on credible intelligence stormed a suspected drug distribution point on June 10, 2026.
Two male suspects fled on sighting the police, while a 45-year-old woman, Ananyi Vivian, was arrested at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the premises were being used for illicit drug activities, with the suspect allegedly admitting knowledge of the operations during interrogation.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their professionalism and vigilance, reaffirming the Command’s resolve to sustain the fight against crime in the state.
He urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information to enhance ongoing security operations across Delta State.
