The Pastor-in-Charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), FCT Province 7, Gwarinpa, Abuja, Pastor Steve Oluyombo, has urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and position themselves for divine encounters, saying a single appointment with God can transform lives and restore destinies.
Speaking during the church’s Moment of Grace service on Saturday, themed “Divine Appointment,” Oluyombo said God still visits His people at appointed times to change difficult situations, grant favour and fulfil His purpose in their lives.
“The Lord is here this morning and He is having an appointment with someone,” the cleric declared, urging worshippers to approach God with faith and a heart of repentance.
Quoting Obadiah 1:17, he said God’s mercy remains the foundation for restoration and deliverance, leading the congregation in prayers for forgiveness of known and unknown sins.
Drawing lessons from the life of Joseph, Oluyombo said divine timing can overturn years of hardship within a moment.
He recalled that although Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers and imprisoned unjustly, God’s appointed time came when Pharaoh sought someone to interpret his dream.
“From the moment they called Joseph, his status changed. God can move a man from the prison to the palace through one divine appointment,” he said.
The pastor urged believers to seek God’s intervention for lasting elevation rather than temporary success.
He prayed that God would take His children “to every throne assigned” to them and establish them permanently.
Referring to Psalm 102:13, he said every believer has an appointed season of divine favour, stressing that God’s mercy opens doors that human effort alone cannot unlock.
According to him, Christians should also pray against every negative agenda of the enemy capable of frustrating their destinies.
Oluyombo cited the example of King Solomon in 1 Kings 3:3-5, noting that his sacrifice attracted a divine encounter that brought uncommon wisdom and prosperity.
He encouraged believers to cultivate obedience, sacrifice and devotion to God as pathways to experiencing divine visitation.
Quoting Matthew 11:28, the cleric called on worshippers to surrender every burden, including failure, debt, barrenness and generational challenges, to Christ, whom he described as the source of true rest.
He also drew inspiration from the biblical accounts of blind Bartimaeus, the paralysed man at the Pool of Bethesda and the Gadarene demoniac, saying each experienced total transformation after an encounter with Jesus Christ.
According to him, no situation is beyond God’s power to restore.
“It does not matter how much your destiny has derailed; God is able to restore you and give you a new beginning,” he said.
The service ended with prayers for mercy, divine favour, restoration and fulfilment of God’s purpose, as worshippers expressed faith in God’s ability to bring about life-changing encounters.
