The Federal Government has ended physical visits to the Federal Ministry of Education for academic certificate evaluation and authentication, moving the entire process online under a new automated system.
The reform was announced by the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, who said the initiative is part of the government’s digital transformation agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The ministry said in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, that applicants can now complete the credential evaluation and authentication process online through the ministry’s dedicated platform.
Under the new system, applicants will no longer need to visit the Education Ministry physically to process their academic credentials. The reform is intended to reduce bureaucratic delays, speed up processing and make the service more accessible to applicants in Nigeria and abroad.
Alausa said the automation would also improve transparency and strengthen the integrity and credibility of Nigeria’s academic certification system.
The system is expected to provide institutions, employers and other stakeholders with a more structured and reliable way to verify academic qualifications.
The minister described the initiative as part of efforts to use technology to modernise education governance, improve institutional efficiency and deliver more citizen-centred public services.
The ministry urged applicants seeking credential evaluation and authentication to use its official online platform, while enquiries can be directed to the ministry through its designated contact channel.
The move represents a further shift towards digital public services in Nigeria, replacing a previously physical process with an online system designed to make academic credential verification faster and more convenient.
