• Initiative targets less privileged children, promotes quality education
About 100 pupils of LEA Primary School, City Gate, Durumi 2, Abuja, have received new school bags and essential learning materials from the Wisewisdom Charity Foundation as part of efforts to support children from underserved communities.
The intervention, organised under the theme, “Building Tomorrow Today: One Bag, One Child,” was aimed at providing less privileged pupils with basic educational tools, boosting their confidence and helping to reduce inequalities in access to education in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking at the distribution exercise on Thursday, Convener of the foundation, Dr. Peter Olumuji, said providing children with the tools they need for learning could make a significant difference in their lives.
Olumuji, who spoke alongside members of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, said the initiative was designed to give the beneficiaries a sense of belonging while encouraging them to remain committed to their education.
According to him, the intervention aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education, Goal 10 on Reduced Inequalities and Goal 17 on Partnerships for the Goals.
The event attracted officials and stakeholders from the FCT Administration, who commended the foundation for supporting children in disadvantaged communities.
Director of the FCT Department of Reforms Coordination and Service Improvement, Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, stressed the need for sustained support for children from low-income families.
Ahmadu said such interventions were necessary to ensure that no child was left behind in accessing quality basic education.
Similarly, Head of Enforcement, FCT Social Development Secretariat, Mrs. Ukachi Adebayo, commended the foundation for its community-focused initiative and pledged continued support for its interventions.
Responding on behalf of the school, the Headmistress of LEA Primary School, Mrs. Helen Adejare, expressed appreciation for the donated materials.
Adejare urged other individuals, organisations and corporate bodies to emulate the gesture by supporting children and schools in need.
The foundation said it would continue to focus on targeted interventions that provide essential learning materials to underserved communities, stressing that investing in children remains critical to nurturing future leaders.
