IGP Disu Shuffles Police Spokespersons, Names New PROs for Key Commands

 

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved new postings of Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) and Public Relations Liaison Officers to key commands, specialised units and training institutions across the country.

The postings affect the Benue and Yobe State Police Commands, Zones 5 and 11, the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre, the Police Academy and the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Gombe State.

The Force Headquarters, Abuja, announced the appointments on Friday in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.

Under the new arrangement, SP Johnson A. Doghudje has been posted as the PPRO for Zone 5, while SP Ojedele Olanrewaju Tunji, ANIPR, will serve as the spokesperson for Zone 11, Osogbo.

At the state command level, DSP Orchia Adndongu has been assigned to the Benue State Police Command, while ASP Yusuf Adamu Aliyu will serve as PPRO for the Yobe State Police Command.

Similarly, DSP Imah Unwana Victor has been posted to the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre, while ASP Abdulaziz Maharazu will handle public relations duties at the Police Academy (POLAC).

ASP Haruna Rashid Umar Abdullahi has also been appointed Public Relations Liaison Officer at the FCID Annex in Gombe State.

IGP Charges Officers on Professionalism

The Inspector-General charged the newly posted officers to demonstrate professionalism, responsiveness and accuracy in discharging their duties.

He directed them to ensure that information released to the public is properly verified and disseminated promptly, while maintaining constructive relationships with journalists, stakeholders and members of the public.

The directive underscores the role of police spokespersons in providing credible information on police activities and ensuring that enquiries are channelled through appropriate communication platforms.

The Force Headquarters urged journalists and members of the public to contact the designated officers for verified information on police operations and activities within their respective areas of responsibility.

The latest postings form part of the police leadership’s stated commitment to strengthening public communication, promoting transparency and encouraging constructive engagement with the media and the communities they serve.

The Force reiterated that timely and accurate information sharing remains an important component of people-centred policing.
