Nigerian filmmaker Josh Olaoluwa has won the Best Short Film award at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs), marking a significant milestone in his career and drawing attention to international creative exchange programmes.
Olaoluwa is an alumnus of the Global Media Makers programme, a U.S. government-supported initiative that connects filmmakers worldwide with leading professionals in the American entertainment industry.
The programme, launched in 2016, focuses on mentorship, skills development and cross-cultural collaboration. It has supported emerging filmmakers by strengthening local film industries and fostering international professional networks.
Organisers and supporters of the initiative highlighted Olaoluwa’s achievement as an example of the programme’s long-term impact on global storytelling and creative talent development.
