KANO – The Kano State Government has unveiled plans to strengthen security around its newly completed flyover projects with the construction of multi-agency Security Plazas at the Dan’Agundi and Tal’udu flyovers, alongside the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at the Dan’Agundi Bridge.
The Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Marwan Ahmed Aminu, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Kano on Monday, saying the initiative underscores the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to complementing massive infrastructure development with effective security measures.
According to Aminu, the Security Plazas will be built immediately after the completion of the two flyovers to safeguard the facilities and guarantee the safety of commuters.
“After completing the Dan’Agundi and Tal’udu flyovers, the government approved the construction of Security Plazas at the two locations to provide adequate security for road users and safeguard these important public assets,” he said.
The commissioner explained that the plazas would serve as operational centres where multiple security agencies would work under one coordinated system to improve surveillance, emergency response and public safety.
“The Security Plaza will not just be a structure; it will function as a security operations centre where personnel from various security agencies will work together under one coordinated system,” Aminu added.
He said the facilities would accommodate personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Hisbah Board, vigilante groups, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and other relevant security organisations.
Aminu further disclosed that CCTV surveillance cameras would be installed at the Dan’Agundi Bridge to provide 24-hour monitoring of activities around the facility.
“The CCTV system will help security agencies monitor movements at all times, prevent criminal activities, facilitate swift emergency response and strengthen public safety around the bridge,” he stated.
He noted that the project reflects the government’s determination not only to deliver world-class infrastructure but also to ensure its long-term protection through modern security measures.
According to him, the administration remains committed to protecting lives and property while providing residents with a safer, more efficient transportation network across Kano State.
